volunteer, intern

Many individuals have contributed to ARK’s success by working as volunteers or interns in the US, or by traveling to Africa to share their talents and expertise.  Since 1995, ARK has provided unique opportunities for professional volunteers and college students to work side-by-side with our local staff and volunteers.  Building partnerships with volunteers and interns as well as in-kind services is a critical component of our long-term strategic planning and overall organizational sustainability.

The ARK invites you to volunteer in one or more of our exciting projects.  click here for a volunteer application (pdf) Short-term commitments range from four to eight weeks; longer stays up to one year are also possible.
ARK recruits regional/local volunteers from neighboring countries.  There is no fee for local-Africa based volunteers, and they are respected and trained to serve in the same capacity as international volunteers. Regional/local volunteers receive a small monthly stipend from ARK including accommodation and travel expenses if needed.

Can you teach Math and Science?

We have a shortage of qualified Science and Math teachers for our educational projects in Tanzania.

If you are a retired teacher or any professional or proficient in this area and can travel to volunteer to teach, consider sharing your skills with students in ARK projects. ARK projects provide free educational services to underprivileged children from low income families who otherwise would be left out of the education system. Our programs rely on the support and assistance of dedicated volunteers who are committed to the uplift and empowerment of African children and families.
