And people are rising to the challenge — amazing people like you.

This Holiday Season, give a gift of life to an ARK grandmother caring for her orphaned grandchildren and great grandchildren. Please adopt a grandmother's family. With a tax deductible contribution of $500, you can construct a water catchment system1 for a grandmother to harvest rain water to use throughout the entire year and to water her vegetables during dry seasons.

Grandmothers who have received the water systems also receive vegetable seeds provided by the ARK Foundation. An 88 year old ARK grandmother and her five young grandchildren are already benefiting from this program through our "adopt a grandmother" campaign. If you would like to support a grandmother provide for the daily needs of her family, you can adopt a grandmother for a donation of just $25 each month. Your contribution will ensure that your grandmother is able to meet the basic needs of her family, including food, soap, match boxes, medicine, and other basic but indispensable items. The ARK Foundation ensures that grandmothers we care for also receive support for their grandchildren to attend school. Paying school fees is a very big challenge for grandmothers.

The success of projects like these depends on supporters like you and me. ARK cannot continue to provide assistance without the support of generous individuals such as you and me. Support from the ARK Foundation is an essential life line to grandmothers that translates into saving the lives of orphans and vulnerable children they care for. If grandmothers have the resources for healthier and longer lives, they will see their grandchildren grow and at least complete high school, then we will have played our part.

Your support affords us a chance to create brighter futures for grandmothers and their grandchildren. Celebrate the holidays by adopting a grandmother and providing her with the resources to build a water catchment system.

1 Rain water catchment systems are used to collect and store water during rainy seasons to provide drinking water to populations during dry seasons. It is composed of several main parts: 1) a rainwater collection area or roof, 2) one or more gutters leading from the house to the tank made of aluminum 3) a tank that stores the water during a period between rainy seasons and 4) a tap to get the water out of the tank. In addition to these basic elements, a filter, made of wire mesh, is required to retain solids and rubbish present in water before it enters the tank.
